Local Consideration for Transfer Applicants
CSU policy requires that students who are considered 'local' receive admission priority.
Applicants who are transferring directly from one of the schools listed below are considered 'local' if:
- The school listed below is the last institution attended and the majority of transferable units were completed at this school.
- Or, will/have earned an Associate's Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T) in a major deemed 'similar' to the Cal State LA major from a school listed below.
Local Community Colleges:
East Los Angeles College (LACCD)
Glendale Community College
Los Angeles City College (LACCD)
Los Angeles Harbor College (LACCD)
Los Angeles Mission College (LACCD)
Los Angeles Southwest College (LACCD)
Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LACCD)
Los Angeles Valley College (LACCD)
Pasadena City College
Pierce College (LACCD)
Rio Hondo College
Santa Monica College
West Los Angeles College (LACCD)
Applicants who do not meet one of the above criteria will be considered non-local area applicants, and may be admitted on a space-available basis based on their cumulative GPA, and other academic criteria.
Veterans will be considerd 'local' regardless of schools attended. This Veterans category includes active-duty, reservists and National Guard.
