  80:       PROGRAM</span></b></h6></p>
  81:       <p class="MsoNormal">The <u><a target="_blank" href="http://www.nse.org">National 
  82:       Student Exchange</a></u> (NSE) provides opportunities for you to study for 
  83:       up to one calendar year at another NSE member college or university.&nbsp; With 
  84: 		nearly 
  85:       190 colleges and universities from which to choose, you should be able to 
  86:       find a campus with just the right combination of courses, facilities, and 
  87:       environment to meet your personal and academic needs and interests.</p>
  88:       <p class="MsoNormal">As you consider possibilities, you will notice that 
  89:       NSE extends beyond the borders of the U.S. to include U.S. territories as 
  90:       wells as Canadian provinces.&nbsp; Students participate in NSE in order to:</p>

  93:         <li>Explore new cultures</li>
  94:         <li>Widen boundaries</li>
  95:         <li>Explore new areas of study</li>
  96:         <li>Learn from different professors</li>

 106:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>ELIGIBILITY</u></b></p>
 107:       <p class="MsoNormal">Each year, more than 3000 students participate in NSE.&nbsp; 
 108:       They continue to make progress toward home campus degree programs while 
 109:       studying in new places, meeting new people, and enrolling in specialized 
 110:       courses or unique academic options which are available at host 
 111: 		institutions.&nbsp; The application process includes the following minimum 
 112:       eligibility criteria established by NSE:</p>
 113:       <ul style="margin-top: 0in; margin-bottom: 0in" type="disc">
 114:         <li class="MsoNormal">Full-time enrollment</li>
 115:         <li class="MsoNormal">Cumulative 2.5 GPA</li>
 116:         <li class="MsoNormal">Good standing (academic, personal and financial)</li>
 117:       </ul>
 118:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>LENGTH OF EXCHANGE</u></b></p>
 119:       <p class="MsoNormal">CSULA students may participate in NSE for a single term or a 
 120:       full academic year.&nbsp; Some campuses can accommodate summer exchange.&nbsp; The 
 121:       maximum cumulative total for exchange participation may not exceed one 
 122:       calendar year.</p>
 123:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>COURSES AND GRADES</u></b></p>
 124:       <p class="MsoNormal">Your home campus determines the manner in which your 
 125:       host campus courses are distributed and grades are recorded.&nbsp; Consult with 
 126:       your academic advisor regarding course selection prior to going on 
 127:       exchange and preferably during the time you are exploring possible host 
 128:       campuses.</p>
 129:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>COST</u></b></p>
 130:       <p class="MsoNormal">There are two tuition payment plans utilized by NSE.&nbsp; 
 131:       Under Plan A, you pay the in-state (resident) tuition/fees to your host 
 132:       campus.&nbsp; Students who participate on Plan B pay their normal tuition/fees 
 133:       Cal State L.A.&nbsp; On both tuition payment plans, 
 134:       fees assessed as a condition of enrollment (e.g., fees for laboratory 
 135:       courses, general service, computer, technology, art and photography 
 136:       supplies) are always paid to your host campus.</p>
 137:       <p class="MsoNormal">Room and meals are always paid to your host campus.&nbsp; 
 138:       You will be responsible for transportation, personal expenses, and 
 139:       sightseeing opportunities while on exchange.</p>
 140:       <p class="MsoNormal">With some exceptions, financial aid for eligible 
 141:       students is applied for, awarded by, and disbursed from the campus at 
 142:       which tuition/fees are paid.</p>

 145:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>APPLICATION</u></b></p>
 146:       <p class="MsoNormal">You must submit the application along with: 
 147: 		unofficial transcripts, 3 references, program of study statement, 
 148: 		budget, language proficiency report (for study in Canada &amp; Puerto Rico) 
 149: 		in addition to the $150 non-refundable application fee. All application 
 150: 		materials must be submitted to the NSE 
 151:       coordinator by the Mid February deadline.</p>
 152:       <p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>PLACEMENT</u></b></p>
 153:       <p class="MsoNormal">Placements will be made in early March.&nbsp; 
 154:       Notifications of placements will be sent out in late March.&nbsp; Placements 
 155:       are confirmed by the student signing a Placement Acceptance Form.&nbsp; Upon 
 156:       receipt of the form, the host NSE coordinator will forward admission 
 157:       materials which usually include a housing application, an institutional 
 158:       admissions instructions, and registration information to the student.&nbsp; All 
 159:       materials must be completed and returned by the stated deadlines.&nbsp; </p>
 160:       <p class="MsoNormal">At the end of the term preceding exchange, you must 
 161:       have maintained all eligibility requirements applicable at the time of 
 162:       your application.&nbsp; </p>
