Professor Kelly J. Madison completed her undergraduate degree at UCLA, and her Ph. D. at the Annenberg School for Communication at USC in 1996. Professor Madison teaches in both the Undergraduate and Masters programs of Television, Film & Media Studies at CSULA. Professor Madison specializes in the study of Cultural Politics and Media Studies. Her areas of expertise include the cultural & media politics of "race"/racism, violence, youth identity, gender, economic class, & consumerism/commercialization. From 2005-2009, Professor Madison was a lead producer and co-host on Pacifica Radio/KPFK's "Beautiful Struggle", a weekly African American public affairs program specializing in social justice issues and community activism. She continues to produce and co-host "Beautiful Struggle" on occasion. In 2006 Dr. Madison was the recipient of the "Distinguished Women of CSULA Award" for her excellence in teaching and community service.
