Services or activities: Supervised and safe after school education, recreation, and enrichment activities for elementary school children, ages 5 to 12, throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Ages and ethnicity of those served: Age 5 to 12; predominantly Hispanic with other ethnicities represented.  Between 80 and 250 children per school site at 75 schools.

Length of minimum commitment: At least 8 weeks, but longer preferred.

Hours per week: At lease one hour, no weekends.

Formal training program: No formal training, on site training is available by staff, and they receive an LA's Best volunteer guide book.

Personal qualities of volunteers: Team players, good communication, enthusiastic about working with children, good listener, and responsible   and mature.

Required skills/qualities: See above.

Additional requirements:  TB Test.

Direct supervision: Yes, volunteer will receive direct supervision.

Supervision entails: Volunteer must always be in presence of staff when with children; will be working with staff daily activity assigned or requested.
