Services or activities: Counseling for victims of domestic violence. Volunteers will take phone calls in their home from domestic violence hotline.
Ages and ethnicity of those served: Women and girls ages 12 and up of all ethnicities.
Length of minimum commitment: 1 year commitment required.
Hours per week: 4 hours, weekends and evenings available.
Formal training program: Formal training of 65 hours is available twice a year and includes orientation.
Personal qualities of volunteers: Open, but must have an interest in aiding abused women.
Required skills/qualities: None, training will provide necessary skills.
Additional requirements: None.
Direct supervision: Supervision over the phone weekly with once a month in-service meeting.
Supervision entails: Phone contact weekly and once a month in-service meetings to discuss any problems.
Additional comments: Student will answer hotline for one four hour shift each week from home.
