Position: Graduate Assistant for Department of Finance and Law
Starting Date: Spring quarter 2012
Minimum Qualifications: Degree-seeking graduate student in the College of Business and Economics (CBE). Graduate Assistants must be registered in a CBE graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. The applicant must be familiar with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Applicants must have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualification: The applicant should display an ease and comfort in interacting with undergraduate students. Good communication skills are essential.
Hiring Criteria:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at California State University, Los Angeles.
- Must be a graduate student enrolled in the MBA program with a Concentration in Finance.
- Must have completed the courses to be taught.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must be familiar with CSULA library database and basic research methods.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Duties: Under the general supervision of the faculty member and the Department of Finance and Law, the Graduate Assistant will provide assistance in the instruction of students by conducting small discussion groups related to large lectures course activities, may assist in handling equipment, maintaining office hours to provide direct individual contact between student and graduate assistant, clarifying course material or course content for students. Will perform clerical or other routine tasks such as grading examinations, recording grades, etc.; assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials; participating in the evaluation of students’ work and other related tasks.

Salary Range: Current Graduate Assistant rate for an average of 10 hours per week.
