POSITION: Tenure Track Assistant Professor

STARTING DATE: Fall 2013

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education is required by the start date.  Candidates should provide record of or potential for scholarly activity, as well as the demonstrated potential for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies.  Candidates should also demonstrate the ability for or interest in teaching at a multicultural, multiethnic campus.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates with broad training in Urban Geography who will be able to expand our course offerings in the urban environment. Expertise in one or more of the following areas will be highly desired and befitting our strategic growth over the next five years: transportation, climate change and urban form, and sustainable urban development. Candidates with an interest in teaching research methods courses, particularly application of GIS in transportation or urban planning, will be given preference. Candidates with an interest in community-based research and the willingness to work within a multidisciplinary academic environment are highly desirable.

DUTIES: In addition to teaching, duties include student advisement/mentoring and committee service for the Department, College of Natural and Social Sciences, and the University.

SALARY RANGE: Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
