POSITION: Director of Field Education (Three-Year Full-time Temporary Faculty appointment, renewable).
STARTING DATE: Preferred starting date: Spring 2013.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited social work program. A minimum of five years post-MSW practice experience. A minimum of two years field education experience. A minimum of two years of program management experience. Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a professional educational context. Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to collaborate; sound professional judgment; and excellent problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A doctorate in Social Work or a related field. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). University teaching experience. Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards as they apply to field education. Experience with the assessment of educational programs. Familiarity with the curriculum of undergraduate and graduate social work programs. Demonstrated potential for obtaining grants for training and scholarly activity pertaining to Field Education.
DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director of the School of Social Work, the Director of Field Education provides leadership to the Field Education Department, including supervising faculty and staff, developing and enforcing relevant policies and procedures, overseeing student performance, teaching field seminars, and coordinating activities with Title IV-E and IUC training grants. The Director of Field Education serves on School committees, coordinates and integrates field and classroom curriculum, liaises with relevant University departments, and supervises and recommends appointment of part-time field seminar faculty. In addition, the Director of Field Education represents the School and the field department in the community, including other professional institutions; and develops and maintains relations with field placement agencies.
SALARY: Salary commensurate with national Field Director positions, qualifications and experience.
