SCHOOL OF NURSING

POSITION: Assistant Professor, Tenure-track Position in Medical-Surgical Nursing or Advanced Practice Nursing (including Nurse Practitioner).

STARTING DATE: Fall 2013

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) PhD in Nursing, DNSc, DSN, or DNP; or (2) doctorate in a related field and Master’s Degree in Nursing. Current relevant clinical experience in the specialty area is required. The candidate should meet the criteria for California Board of Registered Nursing clinical instruction and teaching in their specialty area. The candidate should possess or be eligible for a California R.N. license. Candidates should demonstrate a record of or potential for scholarly activity, involving students whenever possible, as well as the demonstrated potential for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability or interest in teaching in a multicultural, multiethnic campus.
Sincere interest in participating in research and other scholarly pursuits is required.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: State certification, national certification and furnishing number in specialty area as appropriate to specialty area, and the ability to teach collaboratively at both the undergraduate and graduate level through the DNP level are preferred. Previous effective collegiate teaching, including the use of simulation experience, web-based and distance learning delivery methods are preferred. Active participation in professional organizations and experience as an advanced practice nurse in a specialty area are desired.

DUTIES: In addition to course preparation and classroom and clinical teaching in a variety of programs in the School of Nursing, duties include student advisement, curriculum development and evaluation, scholarly activity, and committee service in the School of Nursing, College of Health & Human Services, and the University.

SALARY RANGE: Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
