Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Position: One full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Electric Power Systems.
Starting Date: Preferred starting date is September 2013.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power by the start date of their appointment. The successful candidate has a strong primary commitment to excellence in teaching in a variety of subject areas at the undergraduate level, but is also expected to teach the existing graduate courses and develop new graduate courses in their area of specialization. The ECE department at California State University, Los Angeles, has a strong, well established power program at both the undergraduate and graduate level with strong ties to the local industry. Faculty candidates must have an appreciation for undergraduate teaching and learning at an urban serving institution and must be capable of developing a research and development program in their field or discipline that integrates research and development into teaching and learning. Faculty must also be willing to engage in STEM related activity with the local community colleges and K-12.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates with engineering experience in either industry or a national laboratory.
Duties: Teach lecture and laboratory courses in a variety of subject areas at the undergraduate level and specialization courses at the graduate level. Successful candidates for tenure are expected to be satisfactory or better in instructional activities; scholarly activities, research and publications; and service to the University.
Salary Range: Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
