DEPARTMENT/DIVISION OF:  Special Education and Counseling

POSITION: A Full-time Temporary Instructor position in the area of School Counseling Leadership, an option of the Master of Science degree in Counseling.  This program is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and nationally accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Educationally Related Programs (CACREP).
                                                                                            
STARTING DATE: Fall Quarter, 2013

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate or Master’s Degree in School Counseling or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education. Must hold a valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling.  Professional identity as a school counselor, affiliation with professional organization in school counseling, Demonstrated ability and/or experience in working in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment, including public schools. Demonstrated potential or record of effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to teach in three or more of the following areas: Basic Counseling & Interviewing Skills; Individual Counseling Strategies; Conferences with Parents; Group Counseling; Preventive Counseling; Career Education & Guidance in the Schools; Family Counseling with Children. Expertise/Experience in supervising school counseling fieldwork in the public schools. 

DUTIES:  The successful candidate must teach both introductory and advanced courses in School Counseling and supervise practicum/fieldwork, engage in program development and provide student advisement.

SALARY RANGE: Salary will be determined on the basis of qualifications and experience.
