Position:

Full-Time Temporary Lecturer in Choral Music
 

 

Starting Date:

September 2008
 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

An MM degree is required, a doctoral degree is preferred, in choral music, from an accredited institution of higher education. Demonstrated successful and effective experience in choral conducting, recruitment and ensemble management. Demonstrated successful and effective teaching experience in choral pedagogy, choral literature, stylistic performance practice, and applied conducting. Demonstrated record of organizational skills, research, scholarly and/or creative activity involving students whenever possible. Applicant must have demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic multicultural environment.

 

 

 

Preferred: Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership ability to assist with an established choral music program. Demonstrated success in choral performance, including proven experience in stylistic performance practices.  Demonstrated experience in teaching graduate students, especially in the areas of conducting pedagogy, learning theory, literature, and choral teaching.  Demonstrated success as an effective department colleague.

 

 

Duties:

The successful candidate will assist in directing choral ensembles, teach applied conducting, and teach courses in choral conducting, choral literature, and choral teaching. The candidate will have primary responsibility for recruitment of choral music and choral music education students. May teach additional courses drawn from the candidate’s area of expertise. Direct student research and advise MM project reports and MA theses. In addition to teaching, all music faculty are expected to be productive as artists/scholars and to engage in departmental, college, and university service.

 

 

Salary:

Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
