The following suggestions will help you avoid common pitfalls in the
- Do not use the word "protocol"; just explain the tasks or
- Do not have statements that are inconsistent with, or contradictory
to, the protocol; if the protocol requires five blood draws, the consent
document should also state five blood draws.
- Include all of the purposes of the research, not just the ones that
are beneficial to the subject.
- Do not confuse treatment with research.
