²If you do not have 12 units of a modern foreign language in your lower division program, or cannot offer proof of successful completion of 3 years of modern language study in high school, an additional acceptable equivalent can be the successful completion of three upper division courses in linguistics, ANTH 470/ENG 403; ANTH 471/ENG 400; and ANTH 472.
