Western Regional Noyce meeting
January 26:
1) Topics include:
- Pre/early career mentoring
- Working with students, teachers, school and district personnel as experienced by Noyce scholars now teaching.
- Support for scholars at conference and throughout sites and partner districts
- Inquiry lessons for math/science
- Assessment: formative vs. summative and how it informs future teaching
- Interviewing skills and tips with mock interviews
- Transition from student to professional teacher
- Dissemination of professional development by scholars for scholars (at sites)
2) Networking of Programs, Districts, and Scholars:
- Programs
- Regional: to create local Noyce communities
- Successes and challenges: sharing strategies to transform challenges into successes.
- Faculty, Scholars and District personnel: regional sessions
- Creating a broad support community for scholars and programs to enhance "cross-fertilization" of projects, for example to help with recruiting, or to invite all Southern California Noyce Scholars to seminars at multiple project sites.
