The CSULA Wind Ensemble has a long history of quality music making under the direction of a series of fine ensemble directors. The ensemble has had notable performances at the CMEA: California Association for Music Education state conferences. It continues to provide an environment where university students can develop their skills and artistic understanding of the wind band literature. The ensemble is open to any university student by audition. Community members may also enroll in the wind ensemble through extended education.
Auditions for the Wind Ensemble are held at the first rehearsal of the ensemble each quarter.

The CSULA Percussion Ensemble performs a wide variety of percussion literature. The ensemble explores a diverse repertoire drawn from world percussion traditions as well as contemporary works written especially for the modern percussion ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble is open by audition to both music majors and other university students who wish to continue their percussion studies.
