Music Minor and General Education Courses in music

Music Education

The Department of Music provides many opportunities for creative performance activities that are open to both for music majors, music majors and for students preparing for careers in other disciplines who also wish to pursue personal development in music.

Music Minor

Undergraduate students pursuing degrees in other fields may declare music as a minor. Music minors may tailor their individual programs to meet individual educational goals based on previous musical attainments, skills and knowledge. The general format of the music minor provides a baseline of educational experiences for students with limited musical experience but with a high interest in musical study. A more advanced program of study can be designed with the assistance of a music department advisor. For more information, please visit the music department office or email us at: music@calstatela.edu

The department also participates in an Interdisciplinary Studies Minor in Multimedia that enables students to develop interactive, multimedia products. For more information, please refer to University Programs.

General Education Courses in Music

All students at CalStateLA may choose from an array of music courses to enrich their general education and cultural life experiences while enrolled at the university. For information about music courses that fulfill university General Education requirements, please visit the University Catalog.
