Japanese Program offers Bachelor of Arts and Minor in Japanese. The BA program in Japanese places emphasis on the development of communicative skills in Japanese and offer in-depth study of Japanese literature and civilization.  Study of the language gives students direct access to the Japanese people, their literature, and their civilization. Knowledge of a culture so different from those found in North America broadens intellectual horizons and enables students to better understand and interact with members of contemporary Japanese society.

A minor in Japanese is available for students majoring in other fields or those with an interest in east Asia in general. It may be of particular interest to students studying history, international relations, other languages and literatures, business, or technology, as well as to those seeking employment with the government or international agencies.
