The Mathematics Department is not involved in the admission process. The department has no additional admission requirements beyond those of the university. In particular, the GRE and letters of reference are not needed. The main requirement is that you have a bachelors degree (not necessarily in mathematics) with a grade point average of 2.5 or better in the last 90 quarter units. Detailed information can be obtained from www.calstatela.edu/univ/admiss and the Office of University Admissions (323) 343-3901.
Admission to the Graduate School does not include automatic entry into the mathematics MS program. After admission, you will need to consult with the mathematics graduate advisor to choose a program of study for a mathematics MS. A BA or BS in Mathematics is not required for entry into the mathematics MS program. However ``substantially equivalent" course work is needed. If you do not have a bachelors degree in mathematics, you may be required to take additional mathematics courses before becoming a classified mathematics graduate student. Further information can be obtained by contacting the Mathematics Graduate Advisor at (323) 343-2162.
