Applying for the BA in Latin American Studies

Applicants must complete the application process for both the university and the Latin American Studies Program. Students must be admitted by the University in order to be eligible to be admitted by the Latin American Studies Program.

LAS Program Admission Requirements:

All applications to the LAS Program must include:

  • Two letters of recommendation (former teachers, instructors, or work supervisors)
  • Unofficial transcripts (high school and, if applicable, community college transcripts)
  • A statement of purpose essay (500-750 words in length), explaining the applicant's purpose in applying for undergraduate study, any special areas of interest, plans for future occupation or profession, and any additional information that may aid the selection committee in evaluating the applicant's preparation and aptitude for undergraduate study at CSULA.

Applying for the MA in Latin American Studies

Application must be made both to the Latin American Studies Program and the University.  Click here for the Latin American Studies MA Application Form.

Students are also required to submit a separate application to the University through CSU Mentor at the following link: www.csumentor.edu

Students must be admitted by the University in order to be eligible to be admitted by the Latin American Studies Program.

Latin American Studies Program Admission Requirements

All applications must submit two letters of recommendation.  At least one letter must come from a professor or an individual capable of evaluating the applicant’s qualifications for graduate study. 

All applicants must also submit a statement of purpose essay, 500-750 words in length, stating the applicant's purpose in applying for graduate study, any special areas of interest, plans for future occupation or profession and any additional information that may aid the selection committee in evaluating the applicant's preparation and aptitude for graduate study at CSULA.

Admission to the Latin American Studies program will be based on evaluation of the application letters of recommendation, unofficial transcripts, and a statement of purpose.
