Message from the Director

Welcome to the School of Social Work at California State University, Los Angeles.  Our School offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and the Master of Social Work degree.  Both programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.   The Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work enables students to explore and develop values, knowledge and generalist skills essential to the practice of social work in a multiethnic environment.  The Master of Social Work degree prepares graduate students for entry into advanced and specialized social work practice where they will be able to provide effective services to individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities.  Graduate students are trained as urban generalist with advanced knowledge of one of the three client populations: Children, Youth, Women and Families, Aging and Families, and Forensic Social Work.

The quality of our graduates, our faculty and their research are nationally recognized, evident in the recent U.S. News & World Report’s publication of America’s Best Graduate Schools.  Cal State LA’s MSW Program ranked 5th in California in the category of Top Social Work Programs 2009

I welcome you to explore our School’s website to learn more about what our programs have to offer.  Thank you for considering the Cal State LA School of Social Work for meeting your academic career goals.
