Requirements for the Major
Effective Fall 2010
The following two specializations in Option 1 have been suspended until further notice:
Option 1A – Parenting
Option 1D Child Life/Hospitalized Child
Option I
Option I, the General Option, requires a core of 68-69 units of lower and upper division courses plus an area of specialization. The areas of specialization are:
* Parenting Specialization (requires an additional 32 units)
* Early Childhood Program Administration Specialization (requires an additional 36 units)
* Youth Agency Administration Specialization (requires an additional 32-38 units)
* Child Life/Hospitalized Child Specialization (requires an additional 33 units)
The Option I program sheet* outlines the required courses for both the core and for each specialization. Students should plan their programs with careful attention to prerequisites* for upper division courses. Some courses that meet general education requirements are included in the core for Option I. Students in this Option should complete these requirements and other general education requirements before proceeding with the major.
