Geography Department

Undergraduate Program


Undergraduate majors pursue programs designed to meet their individual needs.  They may choose one of the two options currently offered by the department:

General Option is suitable for students pursuing a general and broad based knowledge in geography.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Option is suitable for students focusing on up-to-date theory and technology in spatial analysis.

Urban Analysis Optionis suitable for students interested in careers and research in urban studies, urban planning, or related to the urban environment.

Additionally the Department of Geography and Urban Analysis offers:

Minor in Geography

Supplementary Authorization for Single Subject Teaching Credential

Undergraduate majors plan their programs in close and frequent consultation with their Undergraduate Advisor. The department encourages its students to make full use of the extensive resources of the many other departments at California State University, Los Angeles. The department also participates in a number of interdisciplinary and credential programs that may be of interest to teacher candidates.
