Submission Information

Statement, the CSULA student literary and arts magazine, is now accepting submissions for its 2010 60th Anniversary Issue.  Submissions accepted October 5, 2009-January 22, 2010.

General Guidelines:

Submissions must be limited to a total of three pieces per person.

Written submissions may include short stories, creative non-fiction, poetry, screen or stage plays (one-acts or scenes preferred), and other inter-genre work.  All written submissions must be word-processed in a minimum 12-point font and must be submitted via paper or electronically (disk or e-mail).

Artistic submissions may include, but are not limited to, photography, painting, mixed- or multi-media work, sculpture, crafts, drawing, textile design and other inter-genre work.  Artists working in three-dimensional forms must submit a high-resolution photo of their work via hard copy or electronically (disk or e-mail) for consideration.

Work can be submitted in three ways:  via e-mail to CSULAStatement@gmail.com, via the Statement mailbox in E&T A 636, or via U.S. mail to: Statement/ CSU Los Angeles/  Attn:  English Department/ 5151 State University Drive/ Los Angeles, CA 90032

Submissions accepted between October 5, 2009-January 22, 2010. All submissions are due by 5:00 pm on January 22, 2010.

Submissions must include a cover letter with the following information: Your name, address, phone, e-mail address, telephone number, CSULA Status (Student, Faculty, or Staff), and Campus ID Number and title(s) of submitted work.

Your name should not appear on your work. Contributors must identify their work by putting the last four digits of their Campus ID Number in the upper left corner of each page (for written submissions) or on the back (for artistic submissions).  SUBMISSIONS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Statement will notify authors and artists chosen for publication by week 3 of spring quarter.  If you are not notified, your work was not selected.  Please try us again next year.  Check website for continual updates.

Work will not be returned. Contributors should keep a copy of all work submitted.

The Statement editorial board reviews all submissions based on literary and/or artistic merit and reserves the right to edit submitted materials for space considerations.

Statement is not responsible for late, incomplete, or lost submissions.

All written and artistic submissions are eligible for consideration for the Dean’s Prizes.

When submitting work, particularly that of extended length, please keep in mind Statement is a journal limited in volume. Thank you.
