Farewel happy Fields
Where Joy for ever dwells: Hail horrours, hail
Infernal world, and thou profoundest Hell
Receive thy new Possessor: One who brings
A mind not to be chang'd by Place or Time.
The mind is its own place, and in it self
Can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n.
Milton, Paradise Lost, Book I
Please join us on
Thursday, February 9, in
the Seminar Room (E&T 631) from 3:15 to 4:20 for our
next Reading Poetry session. We
will launch our reading with Book I of John Milton's
Paradise Lost preceded by an informal introduction
by Professor Caroline McManus. (Printed copies of the readings will be distributed. The
entire book is also available online.)
This Reading Poetry session is part of a series of
public poetry readings initiated in Fall 2010. These informal gatherings
focus on the pleasure of reading and listening to poetry.
