Brian
Leung will be reading from his new novel, Lost Men, on Thursday August 9
at 6:10 p.m. in SH E 184 (next to the Salazar computer lab).
Brian
Leung received an M.A. in our Creative Writing Option in 1995, with Professor
Mary Bucci Bush directing his thesis. Many instructors fondly remember Brian as
an engaging and talented member of their classes.
His first book of short stories, World Famous Love Acts, was a
recipient of the Mary McCarthy Prize in fiction and was published by Sarabande
Books.
Brian
earned an M.F.A. in creative writing at Indiana University, and later taught as
assistant professor of English and Creative Writing at California State
University Northridge. He is
currently an assistant professor at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
Copies
of his debut novel, Lost Men, will be on sale at the reading. The book explores the relationship between an estranged
Caucasian-looking son and his Chinese father as they try to reconnect during a
trip to China.
