National Poetry Prize Winner from Mexico, Estela Alicia Lopez
Lomas, will read from her book of poetry, The Blaze Behind the
Mirror (el fuego tras el espejo, 2002). This lecture series,
honoring the late David L. Kubal, a member of the Cal State L.A.
English Department faculty from 1968 to 1981, brings distinguished
literary critics to the campus. Past lecturers have included noted
scholar Mark Turner, prominent literary theorist J. Hillis Miller,
culture critic Geoffrey Hartman of Yale University, noted
Renaissance scholar Don Wayne, and literary editor Adolf Wood of
Times Literary Supplement.
This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held
on Thursday, February 26, 2004 in the Golden Eagle Ballroom from
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A reception will follow immediately after the lecture.
