Research Agenda
The program’s current research focuses on determining the strength of soft seafloor soils at shallow depths using specialized in-situ penetrometers. Specifically, the strength determination of soft clay soils using flow-pentrometers are being compared to more traditional in-situ tools such as the cone penetrometer and vane shear. Large-scale clay specimens are being prepared in a specially designed slurry consolidometer that will allow side-by-side comparisons of penetrometer tools to shallow depth.
