Joe Mantegna Lectures to TVF 470Actor Joe Mantegna talks about the entertainment industry with students in Dr. Robert Vianello's TVF 470: Administration and Studio Operations class.  Joe Mantegna has starred in over 100 films and TV Shows including "Joan of Arcadia," "Godfather III" and "The Simpsons" where he can be heard playing mob boss Fat Tony. Dr. Vianello's TVF 470 is a department legend, long regarded as one of the program's most exciting offerings.  Students in 470  meet weekly with industry leaders and trendsetters;  the guests who have graced 470 range from studio heads to producers, writers to directors and programers to agents.  The course takes an up-to-the-minute look at how Hollywood is run and who runs it.  Students also go on location to the studios and other companies at the epicenter of the entertainment industry.  Dr. Vianello offers this unique course in the Winter quarter each year.

The program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Telecommunications and Film and the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Television, Film & Media Studies emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application of these mass media of communication in contemporary society. The Bachelor of Arts degree offers three disciplinary options: Broadcast Journalism, Animation and Telecommunications and Film. It is the primary objective of our curriculum to help develop a knowledgeable and artistically skilled graduate who will be able to pursue an advanced degree and/or a professional career in broadcasting, cinema, and mass communication research. The program emphasizes the importance of the communication media's awareness of the multiethnic composition of society and media's impact on all aspects of human interaction.
