Cal State L.A. offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. This multidisciplinary program combines technical and theoretical approaches to radio, television, and film.

Designed to meet the needs of career-oriented students and those planning to pursue graduate study, the major includes courses in video and film production, entertainment management, screenwriting,
film/television history, critical theory, and media research. Students may select an option in Telecommunications and Film or Broadcast Journalism. Studio and field video production is emphasized;
editing, animation, audio production are included. A daily on-campus television news service is distributed to local cable channels. Student work occasionally appears on national networks.

The major also includes courses in acting and directing for television and film taught in cooperation with the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. Special topics courses are offered by entertainment
industry professionals from the Los Angeles area. The cooperative education program enables students to earn academic credit toward the degree while gaining invaluable work experience. Internships
are available at networks, major film studios, independent production companies, television and radio stations, talent and advertising agencies, media research firms, and many related sites. Most
Broadcasting majors complete at least one internship before graduating.

As the world center of film and television production, as well as the second largest television market in the U.S., Los Angeles provides a broad spectrum of career opportunities to our graduates.
Positions in all aspects of film and television, radio, advertising, and the music industry are available. Cal State L.A. graduates are employed by networks, stations, major film studios, sound studios,
independent production companies, syndicators, advertising agencies, talent agencies, public relations firms, research service companies, record companies, educational institutions, government
agencies, and other organizations.

Scholarships are available to students who meet established criteria.
