Dr. Baaske is a full professor in the Communication Area of the Department of Communication Studies. He grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin (a suburb of Milwaukee) and earned his B.A. and M.A. in Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Baaske came to Los Angeles in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Rhetoric at the University of Southern California. He has been teaching at CSULA since 1986. Dr. Baaske’s primary teaching and research focus is in Argumentation, Rhetoric, and Political Campaign Communication. He has also been very active in shared governance both at CSULA and on the statewide academic senate. He currently serves as the Secretary of the ASCSU and as also serves on a number of statewide committees for the CSU.
