As noted above, the CalTPA is designed to measure your knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the (TPEs). TPEs are standards of teaching that represent what a beginning teacher minimally must know and be able to do. The CalTPA measures TPEs, and aspects of many TPEs are found in more than one task.

Task 2 = Designing Instruction
Task 3 = Assessing Learning
Task 4 =The Culminating Teaching Experience.

The CalTPA tasks are embedded in your program. Multiple Subjects teacher candidates will take Task 1 in Block 1, Task 2 in Block 2, Task 3 in Block 3, and Task 4 in Block 4. Single Subject teacher candidates will take Task 1 in Block 1, Task 2 in Block 2, Task 3 in Block 4 and Task 4 in Block 4. It is important to note that many assignments and tasks in your courses are designed to prepare you for the CalTPA.

- How do I take the CalTPA?
You will complete the CalTPA in Task Stream. Following submission of the CalTPA task, you will print the Candidate Statement of Authenticity and the Certificate of Completion. Submit these documents to your course instructor during the eighth week of the quarter in which you submit CalTPA tasks.
