Graduate Admissions

Applicants must have a baccalaureate in anthropology and a 2.75 grade point average in the last 90-quarter units attempted and a B (3.0) grade point average in anthropology courses. Those whose undergraduate major was not anthropology must complete 20-32 units in anthropology, including ANTH 4970, with a B average. Students’ actual number of units required will be determined by advisement during their first semester of postbaccalaureate study.

The Anthropology Department accepts new graduate students into the program in both fall and spring semesters. Applicants should apply to the university through Cal State Apply (https://www2.calstate.edu/apply). Completed applications must be submitted via Cal State Apply by the application deadlines listed below:

Fall 2021 admissions deadline: March 15th 2021

Spring 2022 admissions deadline: October 1st 2021
