CSULA’s GET/Common Management System (CMS) gets an upgrade

Since August 2010, campuses in the CSU have been undertaking an upgrade of the common management system. Here at CSULA, work on the GET upgrade has been ongoing since October 2010. By the start of winter quarter, faculty and students will experience a “new look and feel” to the GET screens. Navigation will change to a tab based system with the elimination of the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Later this academic year, new functionality will be made available for faculty and students. For faculty this includes a division between “the Advisor Center” (where advisors will find the degree audit and they will be able to see the views that students see) and “the Faculty Center” (where faculty will find their course and grade rosters). There will be new functionality for students, chief among them will be the ability to plan what courses they will need to take in upcoming terms to meet their graduation requirements in a timely fashion.

Please be assured, that to ease this transition, information will be made available about the upcoming changes and training will be provided.

The most important thing to realize right now is that the conversion will take place in mid-December so mark your calendars for the fall quarter 2011 grade submission deadline which is Midnight PST on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 (no exceptions).
