ORAD FAQs
What's the difference between ORAD and ORSP?
ORAD is a unit within the University, housed within the Division of Academic Affairs.
ORAD provides research development support services to the university community, such as identifying external funding opportunities; assisting with proposal development; providing support and guidance for compliance issues related to the use of human subjects and animal subjects in research, conflicts of interest, and research misconduct; assisting PI's with intellectual property and technology transfer processes; and administers the Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Award program, the Student Symposium on Research Scholarship and Creative Activity, Seed Grants, Research Seminars at ORAD Cafe, a quarterly newsletter, and the campus research magazine, Research at Cal State LA. Through these activities, ORAD increases opportunities for faculty and students to engage in research, scholarship and creative activities, supporting the academic mission of this comprehensive university.
ORSP is an office within University Auxiliary Services (UAS) which serves as the designated Sponsored Programs Administrator for grants and contracts at Cal State LA. ORSP assists faculty with pre-award services such as budget development and approval and final submission of funding proposals, and post-award services such as award set up and administration, review and approval of expenses, fiscal management, financial reporting, and other activities. ORAD also collaborates in activities and events that recognize and support campus research activities.
