Dear Visitor,
Welcome to
Cal State L.A.’s Graduate Studies and Research Office website!
Across the
country and on every campus, both graduate studies and
research and sponsored programs are more important than ever
in helping students and faculty realize their full potential.
As you browse through these pages, you will find a wealth of
information regarding programs, services and activities related
to both these areas and to three additional areas for which our
office plays the primary leadership role: Presidentially
Chartered Centers, Institutes and Bureaus; Cal State L.A.
– China Programs and Activities; and a special office
created to help coordinate and to serve the many externally
funded programs in Science, Engineering and Mathematics (SEM-Ed
Office).
If you are a
prospective or current student, you will benefit from
information that will help you learn about the more than 58
excellent graduate degrees and a full array of certificate and
education credential programs. You also will find information
about admission, financial aid opportunities and other programs
offered through our office that will help you accomplish your
post baccalaureate educational goals. All of our programs are
appropriately accredited.
If you are a
faculty member, you will find valuable data summaries and
many useful tools on our Research and Sponsored Programs
pages. These pages are designed to help you identify funding
agencies to support your research, scholarship and creative
activities, including research to enhance teaching and learning.
Make sure to note the New P.I. Handbook and the on-line search
engines for externally-funded contracts and grants to which our
campus subscribes. The Office of Research and Sponsored
Programs staff provides major assistance in grant development
from concept development to actual proposal submission to
external funding sources.
If you are a
campus visitor, you will be impressed with what you will
find. Cal State L.A. is a highly diverse, comprehensive, urban
campus, with a first-rate faculty committed to quality higher
education that last year were awarded over $28 million in grants
and contracts to support their research efforts in cutting-edge
areas and enhanced teaching and learning. Most of these
externally-funded projects create opportunities for our students
to engage in primary research activities starting even in their
undergraduate years. As a result, graduates of our programs
routinely enter the most prestigious colleges and universities
throughout the United States.
Again, I
extend a warm welcome to you and please contact me or others in
the office if we can be of any assistance.
