The English Language Program (ELP) at California State University, Los Angeles is an intensive English language program for non-English speakers who plan to attend college or want to learn English for business or personal reasons.

New Health Center Immunization Fee

Please ask your doctor to fill out your Medical form and bring it on the Registration Day. If not, you can get immunization at CSULA with $25. (active from Summer, 2007)

SEVIS Fee

The SEVIS fee is required of all foreign nationals who come to the United States for the purpose of pursuing a full course of study in institutions such as colleges, universities, and language training programs. Read more about it here.

For International Students, English Language Program Only

Step 1. Please mail the following to our office.

* ELP Application form
* $100 USD Application Fee
* Your bank statement or your sponsor's bank statement - minimum $14,435 USD; statement less than 6 months old; signed & stamped by bank manager
* Sponsor Support Form (if using a sponsor)

* If you want us to send you the I-20 faster, please add $25(Express mail) or $50(DHL) to your application fee.

Step 2. We will send you the I-20.

Step 3. In order to apply for your student Visa (F-1 Visa),

* Pay $100 SEVIS Fee: Go to the website below. Pay the fee, and print your receipt BEFORE you go to the visa appointment at the U.S. embassy. Take your receipt with you to the embassy appointment. http://www.fmjfee.com

* Make Appointment with U.S. Embassy: You will need to get an F1 Student Visa. Take these documents with you to your appointment:
1. I-20 document from our school
2. Bank statement (sponsor's if used)
3. Sponsor form (if used)
4. Passport
5. SEVIS fee receipt (print from website)

Step 4. Prepare for the registration for ELP.

* Take Medical Form to Your Doctor: Take the yellow Medical Requirements form to your doctor. Your doctor must complete the form. Bring this completed form with you to ELP's Registration Day. The University requires this form. The State of California says you cannot go to school without these medical records.

* Find Housing: Find a place to live BEFORE you enter the United States. You should apply early! Here are some ways you can find a good apartment:

1. Credit card, 2 traveler's checks, 2 money orders, or 2 U.S. bank personal checks for tuition fee and health insurance fee payment.
2. Your passport
3. Your Visa and I-94 card
4. Your I-20
5. Your yellow medical form signed by your doctor

For Residents, English Language Program Only

Step 1. Please mail the following to our office.

* ELP Application Form
* $100 USD Application Fee to ELP (the check should be made out to "Cal State L.A.-ELP")
* Your bank statement or your sponsor's bank statement - minimum $14,435 USD; statement less than 6 months old; signed & stamped by bank manager

* the copy of the I-20 from current school, or school before ELP
* the copy of passport, visa page and I-94
* your current US address and home country address
* your e-mail address or fax number that we can send you our transfer-in form

Step 2. We will send you our transfer-in form

* Please bring the transfer-in form to the academic advisor in your current school. Please send it back to us after it is filled out.

Step 3. We will send you a new I-20 from English Language Program.

About the English Language Program

What is the English Language Program (ELP)?

* The English Language Program (ELP) is a dynamic 10-week intensive English language training program designed to fast-track your entrance into the university.

What skill areas are offered?

* We offer state-of-the-art multi-media instruction in:
Reading Listening/Pronunciation
Writing Speaking
Structure (Grammar) TOEFL

How many levels are available?

* We offer 7 intensive training levels all designed to help you get the skills you need for your university program.

When are the classes held?

* Quarter programs are for 10 weeks.
* Regular classes are held from 9:15 am - 3:20 pm Mondays - Thursdays, 9:15 am - 1:10 pm Fridays.

Do you offer Conditional Admission to California State University, Los Angeles?

* Yes, we have it for graduate school (Master degree). With just a 173 (500) TOEFL score and successful completion of our Level 6, you can join most graduate schools at the university.

Program Description
We are your fast track into the university! Our courses are designed to give you the English language skills you need in order to begin your university program as soon as possible.
Placement Test given at 9:00 AM on Registration Day
Basic Program
Levels 1-6 = Reading, Writing, Grammar, Speaking, Listening/Pronunciation
Level 7 = Bridge to the University = 4 ELP classes + one university class
Class Hours: Mondays - Thursdays, 5 hours a day
Fridays - 4 hours a day
Health Requirements Student Health Insurance - must be purchased on Registration Day
Medical Form - completed by your doctor in your country
Program Costs (all costs in USD and subject to change without notice)

Tuition (per quarter): $1,935
Health Center Fee (per quarter) $55
