Faculty Programs For Graduate
Seed Grants Research
Established in 1993 with funds from University Auxiliary Services (UAS), the Grant Seed Money Fund seeks to increase the number and amount of external grant and contract awards through direct support of a Principal Investigator or potential PI. Funding will be provided only to support activities directly related to preparation of a major, competitive proposal, to an external agency. Examples: faculty release time to prepare the proposal, research assistant time; purchase of grant-related software or hardware, focused travel to granting agencies and bidders' conferences, and grant-related workshops. Monies may not be used for institutional cost sharing. Support is for competitive grants only, i.e. not for annual renewals of the same award. Within one year of the award letter date, successful applicants for funding must provide a "final report" in the form of a high-quality grant proposal to a major agency submitted through normal University/UAS channels. The amount of seed grant funding typically will be limited to $5,000, and faculty will be given priority. There is no application deadline. Funding is on-going, so long as funds are available. To apply, simply complete the form below and return it to the Dean of Graduate Studies or the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
