Title: Specialized Student Technology Assistant
Incumbent is responsible for providing second level
assistance to students in the Open Access Labs. This
includes tutoring, writing handouts and providing
documentation to students when available. The Specialized
Technology Assistant must have average computer skills, good
communication skills, and ability to work effectively with
Lab Consultants, Supervisor
and lab users. The Specialized Technology Assistant must
have proven software experience in some of these discipline
specific areas:

Programming languages (C++, JAVA, Javascript, Visual
Studio, Visual Studio .NET, JBuilder etc)

Graphics and Web applications (PhotoShop, Macromedia
Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver etc)
-
WebCT
- B&E (Quickbook, Oracle
etc)
-
Engineering (Mathlab, MathCAD, Mathematica, AutoCAD,
SolidWork, CATIA, MasterCAM etc)
-
Statistics (SPSS, SAS, etc)
Letter of
recommendation from faculty is highly desired.
Supervised by the ESS Lab Manager, the Specialized
Technology Assistant shall: Provide tutoring in
applications assigned and support users with the
intermediate and/or advanced level questions in the OALs.
Attend customer service and other workshops as needed. Learn
operating procedures for OAL labs, enforce university and
ESS policies as they relate to proper use of computing
services. Be familiar with various Operating Systems such as
Windows XP, Unix/Linux, and Mac OS and willing to learn new
applications as needed.
