Working Title: Assistant Lab Supervisors

Incumbent is responsible for assisting the ESS Lab Supervisors with the day-to-day operation of the Open Access Computer Lab.

Supervised and supported by the ESS Lab Supervisors, a Lab Supervisor Assistant shall:

  • Enforce and ensure that the Lab Consultants enforce computer lab rules and CSULA rules and policies.

  • Be required to serve one weekend shift during each quarter.

  • Be required to serve four night shifts during each quarter.

  • Spend one hour each week during their shift in recruiting process.

  • Provide training, mentoring, and testing for new Lab Consultants during their evaluation period.

  • Along with Lab Supervisor, produce and maintain the Lab Consultant's Handbook for the lab.

  • Handle first level user complaints.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problem.

  • Help clear outstanding Trouble Tickets.

  • Disseminate information about procedures, workarounds, diagnosis, or problems.

  • Set a disciplinary example for Lab Consultants and Interns.

  • Meet weekly with the Lab Supervisor to provide update and discuss labs related matter.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

A Lab Supervisor Assistant must have above average computer skills, good communication skills, and ability to effectively work with Lab Consultants and users.
