Turnitin for Faculty
Turnitin is an internet-based anti-plagiarism program. This technology can help
instructors check students’ work for possible plagiarizing of other known sources.
However, receiving a high similarity rating of an originality report doesn’t
necessarily mean the paper is plagiarized. Instructors need to be cautious since
there are a number of perfectly legitimate reasons for a paper receiving a high
similarity rating. For example, a properly cited paper with numerous references
may show a high similarity.
Before creating a a user profile at http://www.turnitin.com,
