CETL is excited to offer continuing faculty professional development via workshops, webinars, brown bag discussions, labs, one-on-one coaching, and peer mentoring. We are all learning about something. If you have a suggestion for a topic you would like to see development for, would like more information, need to schedule training or personal assistance, or would like to connect with like-minded faculty, please email us at: cetl@calstatela.edu 

Our events take place at our Center, located in the Fine Arts Building, Room 138, as well as the new CETL Annex in the Library, Palmer Wing, Room 3074. Please roll your mouse over to see what's scheduled.

Moodle in a Day

Location: CETL Main (FA 138)

Attend a Moodle workshop and build your Moodle course in a day.  Learn how to archive your Blackboard course content such as files, links, and grades, and download these onto your desktop.  Then design a basic Moodle course: upload files, learn Moodle messaging, create quizzes and manage the gradebook. This half-day workshop runs from 9 am to 1 pm, so bring your lunch. Seats are limited. RSVP's are required to CETL@calstatela.edu

Moodle Advanced: Group Projects 1
Thursday, 10-May-12
3:15 pm - 4:15 pm
Location: CETL Main (FA 138)

This workshop is for advanced users and will be 1st of two sessions.  This workshop will cover the benefits of assigning group projects and strategies on how to create and manage groups online.  Participants will learn three methods of creating groups by: (1) Manually creating topics, and students self-select the topic they wish to work on, (2) Manually creating groups, and instructor assigns specific students to a group, and (3) Automatically creating groups randomly.  This workshop will also have participants create asynchronous discussion forums and synchronous chats to create spaces for sharing ideas and organizing content

Workshop: Using clickers to teach

This workshop and interactive demo will investigate the many ways clickers can be used in the classroom. We will discuss lecture/discussion strategies, including asking clicker questions with zero prep, using them with peer instruction, to study conventions, review reading homework, minimize cheating, and even to give online quizzes.  We’ll be using TurningPoint and iClicker products.
