The LA BioStart boot camp is an intensive training program for bioscience entrepreneurs in the early stages of their ventures. Cal State LA, Biocom and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator developed the program to meet a critical need in the Los Angeles region: to provide founders of bioscience startups with the industry-specific business training to turn scientific ideas into successful commercial ventures that will drive long term economic and employment growth.
LA BioStart is made possible by funding from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s Regional Innovation Strategies program and will take place primarily on the Cal State LA campus, with events at partner sites throughout Los Angeles County.
LA BioStart will enroll its first cohort of 12 entrepreneurs in the summer of 2017. Two additional cohorts will convene per year through 2019. The five-week curriculum will cover topics including:
Funding & Financing
Patents & Intellectual Property
Business Formation & Company Structure
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Corporate Partnerships & Exit Strategies
Visioning, Strategic Planning & Goal Setting
