Part-Time Lecturer Position
Department of Biological Sciences

Lecturer: Temporary faculty positions for Clinical Genetics Molecular Biology Scientist didactic courses in molecular diagnostics with the possibility of renewal for additional quarters.

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic quarter.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Master’s degree plus a CGMBS license for California, or a higher degree in a life science discipline with coursework in the area of molecular diagnostics from an accredited institution of higher education; classroom teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level; and experience in assays/techniques used in a clinical laboratory setting are required. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

California licensed CGMBS for individuals with a Master’s of Science degree or above.


Faculty will teach courses and be available for office hours. The successful candidate(s) will teach didactic curriculum to Clinical Genetics Molecular Biology Scientist trainees in the CGMBS Training Program offered by Cal State LA.  Class will be held morning and afternoon one day a week for 10 weeks each of Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters.  Candidate(s) will use existing curricular content outlines and learning outcomes and partially developed curriculum materials to present lectures and problem-based learning exercises. Candidate will grade homework and examinations. In addition, the instructor is expected to be reasonably available to address student questions outside of scheduled class time.


Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
