Teaching Associate for Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL).
Beginning Fall quarter 2012 and on-going.
Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of MLL. Teaching Associates must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
As a University dedicated to engagement, service and the public good, the successful candidate will be expected to join faculty, staff, students and administrators in a commitment to these purposes.
The following specific requirements must be satisfied:
a) Classified graduate standing in MLL.
b) G.P.A. of 3.5 in courses for the language in question.
c) Current enrollment in a course that appears on the student's approved graduate program. A course previously taken for which a grade of "I" was assigned does not meet this requirement.
d) Completion of ML 496 (4 units) with a grade of B or better prior, or equivalent experience.
Excellent evaluation by the ML 496 instructor and strong letters of recommendation. Prior teaching experience in the language in question, beyond ML 496.
Should there be more applicants than the number of positions available, those who satisfy preferred qualifications will be given priority.
Successful candidates normally teach one section of elementary or intermediate level course in the language in question, and hold office hours accordingly.
Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
